Emmy Rossum designs handbag for Elie Tahari

For Emmy Rossum, fashion suggestions don’t go unheard. As an avid shopper of Elie Tahari, the “Phantom of The Opera” star dropped hints to the designer regarding his handbags.

“She’d say, ‘I wish it was this way, I wish it was like that…’ and I said, ‘You know what, Emmy? You come in and you design it like you like,’” Tahari told Women’s Wear Daily.

The actress said she wanted the bag to be large and practical, fitting everything in an organized fashion. No more days of the upside-down purse shake to find that mascara.

“I thought a lot about the kind of bag I wanted: versatile, worn by the working woman in any season,” she told WWD. “It was important that it had compartments in the sides, because I hate those big bags where your iPod cord gets mixed in with your lip gloss.”

The “Emmy” bucket bag will hit Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue in March. It’s available in four sizes, and prices range from $398 to $798.

When asked about a future in fashion, Rossum replied: “One thing at a time.”
