Fashion’s Night Out Earns TV Presence

The Fashion’s Night Out 2010 event is gaining center stage at a completely new venue, your television!

Last year’s event proved to be such a breakout success, that the CBS Television Network has decided to film a prime-time television special about this retail, fairytale.

Thanks to CBS for creating this opportunity, the revolutionary event will be able to gain exponential exposure in 2010 for this massive consumer affair. In the name of fashion and economic good, efforts were put forth towards community and collaboration to aide Manhattan retailers during the economic challenges that faced 2009. The event proved to be more than just another fashion affair; it became a way of working together!

“Last year, when this event came to life, I don’t think anybody anticipated the enormity and the spirit of it,” CBS executive producer Susan Zirinsky said of FNO to WWD, which was launched by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, Vogue and NYC & Co. to fete the fashion industry and stimulate retail during the recession. “When discussions began, it became clear that FNO really was this fascinating event. While the country was bailing out everybody on Wall Street, nobody was really looking at fashion, retail and design, which constitutes a huge portion of the population.”

The idea is to air a primetime special featuring the preparation, logistics and behind-the-scenes ‘secrets’ of what goes into creating this LUX-event! Not to mention, it will also include footage from the 2010 FNO to help those who weren’t actually part of the festivities themselves to share in the experience.

“When you can have a shared experience like FNO, it’s magic,” Zirinsky said to WWD. “It’s about supporting the economy and about the impact globally on so many jobs. People care about [FNO] and there is a reason to care about it, because of the economy, because it’s about an industry paying attention to what can impact a much larger strata of society.”

This special feature is aimed at really understanding the ‘impact’ of such a gathering and the positive effects of it all. So on top of the glamour, festivities and interviews, we’ll also have a glimpse of the impact we each have through our own buying power.

Expect it to air on September 15, at 8 pm on CBS.

LUXies, if you can’t make it to NYC to partake in Fashion’s Night Out, is watching the CBS special something you’d be interested in?
