Green Initiatives Showing Signs of Significant Progress at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP

Sustainability has become a buzzword in our lives. The future of our planet has evolved from something briefly talked about to something that we all have started to put much more emphasis on.

Well known consulting company, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), declared publicly last week at the Climate Week in New York City that they’ve officially reduced their carbon footprint by 10% this fiscal year! This positive progress is all part of a much larger green initiative they announced last year to reduce their overall carbon emissions by 20% by 2012. This news definitely shows they’re moving in the right direction!

“Environmental excellence is part of a larger effort to set a high standard for corporate responsibility,” said Robert Moritz, U.S. Chairman and Senior Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers. “Through our strategic actions, we believe that we can more effectively help clients better understand and manage risks, costs and reputation issues that can impact their business.”—official press release

This change in internal processes is definitely a work in progress; though by making small incremental changes across business functions they’ve been able to make significant impacts. These changes include: reviewing more green travel approaches, reviewing the printing norms and replacing all printers with one’s that are much more energy-efficient and capable of double-sided printing. The changes don’t end there; PricewaterhouseCoopers has also implemented green information technology systems.

We here at LadyLUX are pleased to see corporations, such as PwC, taking the lead to review how they can drastically reduce their damage to the environment. This definitely qualifies as LUX-tastic in our book!
