HOPE:  Baghdad Showing Signs of Life

The resilience of humanity continues to persevere. It has been about 6 years since the United States entered Baghdad and much has happened in that time and many lives have been affected. Although, in recent events it seems that the storm might just be nearing the end and the rainbow is starting to emerge, which instills hope for the possibility of a more peaceful climate.

In the last year alone, there has been a 70% decrease in violence, which has influenced people to unlock their door’s and their hearts; literally, evident by the huge swell of people tying the knot. And we are not referring to small, intimate gatherings either, but rather huge, elaborate affairs from 10-layer wedding cakes, 300 person guest lists and flowers galore! Even attendance is a changing landscape with more and more guests traveling from outside the area to attend, which was not the case just 2 years ago. It is as if a new attitude of optimism and zest for life has been born out of the chaos, fear and turmoil that has been so prevalent. All in accordance with living a LUX life and prioritizing what really matters!

People no longer cower at home after nightfall. Restaurants stay open later and nightclubs have sprouted in more secular districts. Couples hold hands on Abu Nawas Street, a popular promenade along the Tigris River that had been abandoned amid the violence after the 2003 U.S. invasion. Quote The Huffington Post.

Are these the signs towards a more peaceful world? An environment enhanced with themes of freedom, abundance, sustainability and the opportunity to enjoy the perks of LIFE and LOVE. There are still many concerns on how the absence of US troops by June could influence the current tranquil conditions, although our hope is that Baghdad continues to thrive and show resilience to an ever changing environment!
