A Continual Love Affair With Paris

When I was growing up, my mother had a love affair with France. She loved everything about French culture, when I asked her what she loved most, she could never pick just one element of it.

Often, she lost the words to describe what moved her and what always brought her back. We’d walk for hours around various cities (Paris and Bordeaux were my favorites), get lost, and find our way back. You wouldn’t believe some of the places we discovered together.

Recently, the Paris Tourist Board commissioned critically acclaimed French actor-director Yvan Attal has created a short film, “Kisses From Paris,” features two gorgeous young actors making out all around the city. The film was shot in lesser known parts of my mother’s beloved city of lights—not the typical scenes by the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.

While the film focuses on the two lovers, it clearly represents the girl’s love affair with the city itself. I think I finally can understand what my mother felt.
