LFW: Preen, Vivienne Westwood and Matthew Williamson S/S 14

London Fashion Week's S/S 14 runways proved how floral prints can be done in an array of styles. From architecturally inspired to 3D embellishments, we were captivated by the runways. Let's see how Preen, Vivienne Westwood and Matthew Williamson took on the floral trend.

Preen’s S/S 14 collection is inspired by the vibrant Miami woman. The runway was radiating in electric yellow and neon pinks. Art Deco lines cut across the body and left hemlines ridged. Preen used layers of sketched-on floral prints to create depth on the smooth, flat fabrics. Sheer and silky crepe, organza and chiffon fabrics gave the dramatic prints a romantic twist. Wrap yourself up in this ultra modern and vibrant collection for spring.

Vivienne Westwood, known for her extreme drama and unique collections, brought the most beautiful zombies to the runway. Above-the-knee dresses were softly draping across the body and belted at the high waist. Neatly tailored trousers and loose shorts were paired with floral and thin striped printed tops. Each look was captivating, through prints or oversized fabric flowers. Vivid red, navy blue and camel colors set the tone for the collection. Unexpected, yet cohesive, Westwood inspires the fashion influences to be unique.

Matthew Williamson is a master architect of print and use of embellishments in his collections. His S/S 14 runway show highlighted his craftsmanship through floral and firefly prints. Using small fabric flowers, he created all over dimension, resembling a bed of real flowers. Collared shirts and satin belts brought a sophisticated vibe to the girly prints. Sheer layers and satin trousers were a play between womenswear and menswear. The classy Matthew Williamson lady is making heads turn next spring.
