LUX Look: All Buckled Up

If there had to be one accessory that dominated the runway at Paris Fashion Week this spring, it was the belt. Outerwear was a staple in almost every show, from bright capes to cropped leather jackets. However, instead of floppy and shapeless, designers made a point to cinch in at the waist. From Giles’ subtle feminine sash to Tim Van Steenbergen’s modern military look, no girl will be in a bind for a belt this fall.

Giles
The designer made a point to accentuate the body in the new fall line. Every model had a waist, whether she was donning an a-line dress, a silky tunic, or a shearling coat. Working giant beehive ‘dos, Giles’ models definitely channeled the sixties lady a lá “Mad Men” with the attention to female lines and his vintage aesthetic.

Rue de Mail
Although Rue de Mail typically steps away from structure, the belts were a subtle nod to the new fall adornment. Maybe it was a bow to female freedom but there was a certain je ne se quois about the oversized, flouncy coats being restrained by the sturdy leather. Social commentary perhaps?

Tim Van Steenbergen
Amid the perfectly placed drapery and luxurious fabrics in shades of pewter, navy, and gold, peeked sturdy leather belts, with aggressive gold buckles, oozing in military masculinity. The skullcaps on the models also maintained the androgynous and minimalist look of the Paris show.
