LUX Look: Rocker Chic

“The Runaways” is about to hit theatres nationwide and it seems designers have taken the hint. Incorporating leather, fur, and shredded tees into their collections, rockers have kicked out the shy demure girls for the fall season. Although rompers, flyaway hair, and corsets are known to adorn the hides of Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, fashion flashed forward to the 80s with a harder, rocker edge. Who says girls can’t wear leather bombers or purple fur? These three looks are bound to have girls clamor to form bands and simultaneously bang down the walls of “accepted” fashion.

Balmain
The runway was packed with sexy, skintight, sheer blouses under metallic suits and leather jackets. This furry, purple coat must have made The Runaways bus back in the 70s. Can’t you see a roadie rocking this look as she listens to vinyls and smokes French cigarettes?

Isabel Marant
Somehow Isabel Marant made leather soft and cute by shortening her trousers to clam-digger length. Don’t let the capris fool you, these models were definitely not headed to Martha’s Vineyard. Cut in tight metallics and bright red, there was a skinny jean fit for every band member.

Limi Feu
No boring boots or flats on this fall runway. Limi Feu livened it up with chicks in London-style creepers. Eighties rock just got a little more punk, as the femme fetales seduced the audience in over-sized coats and all-black ensembles. This red, shredded tee was one of the only pops of color, making a definite statement against the status quo of her 2010 fall line.
