LUX Style: Fashion Week’s must have essentials

This week starts the countdown to the Fall Fashion Week season, and with all the fun starting on Thursday with the New York marathon, there’s not much time left to pack. But there are certain essentials that you just can’t forget. And even if you are not attending the runway shows, these are serious fashion must-haves for any stylish occasion.

First things first, to catch all of the fashion shows, you have to know the time. Marc by Marc Jacobs metal Rivera watch is here to help. In a shiny rose gold hue, the stainless steel watch features brushed and polished links that will complement any arm party of bracelets and cuffs. Pair with an edgy spike bracelet, brightly colored leather wraps or a bracelet with crystal clusters.

A must-have bag is a must. 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Abichi satchel is subtle enough to match all your stylish outfits, but unique enough to catch the eyes of the street-style photographers. The colorblock patent-leather handbag includes a haircalf panel and crossbody shoulder strap that makes for easy carrying, especially when you’re also holding your DSLR to capture the perfect runway shot.

Going from one runway show to the next can get tiring, especially when you’re running in heels. For an option that is as chic as heels but a bit more grounded, try Alexander Wang’s Anouck Chelsea boots. The sleek styling completed with a metal plate at the notched heel can give fitted pants, maxi dresses and even shorts a cool vibe. Extra bonus: These booties will keep your toes warm in the cold New York and European weather.

Tech gadgets such as iPads are essential for when you can’t have your laptop. But even the iPad needs to be dressed up – and protected. Diane von Furstenberg offers a whimsical vintage print case that has been reissued from the designer’s archives. The case looks more like a stylish clutch than a geeky sleeve while still keeping your gadget safe.

To pair with your most dolled-up dresses or laid-back model-off-duty looks, Iosselliani’s crystal and charm bib necklace can liven up any Fashion Week ensemble. The curb-chain necklace features Swarovski crystals and resin stones. Little pops of colors make for a fun contrast or stylish match with your outfit.

Even though spring is just around the corner, Mother Nature isn’t quite ready for the sun to shine. To prepare for the cold, leather gloves might be in order, and Juicy Couture has the perfect pair. The fingerless construction at the index and thumb will allow you to tweet and snap pictures on your phone and still keep your hands warm. It also features a Fair Isle knit trim for a touch of character.

With all the shows, events and after-parties, a simple yet eye-catching dress is needed for when you are too tired to think about what to wear. David Lerner’s waterfall tank silk dress features a crew neck and racer back in vibrant neon. To complete the look, style with a statement clutch and black pumps.

And, of course, if you’re sitting front row at a show, you’re going to need a pair of killer shades for your Anna Wintour moment. Linda Farrow’s snakeskin curved, squared sunglasses are just the right kind of cool. Behind these, you can judge and critique each runway look as if you are Vogue’s editor-in-chief.
