LUXE and Mercedes Benz team up to support Oceana

On July 17, Lisa Vogel, creative director of LUXE by Lisa Vogel, celebrated her love for the ocean with an exclusive showcase for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, with a special collection designed for Oceana.

“The ‘Blu’ collection is part of the LUXE by Lisa Vogel 2011 Collection,” Vogel said. “This collection was designed to raise awareness for Oceana and support their efforts.”

Although the presentation did happen at the Raleigh Hotel Penthouse in Miami, the site of Miami Swim week, the show wasn’t just any runway presentation. Lisa Vogel had a larger cause in mind when she decided to throw the soiree for this non-profit close to her heart.

Involved with Oceana for a number of years, Vogel believes it is important, now more than ever, to understand the significance of ocean preservation. “It’s important to understand the ocean food chain and how disrupting that balance…affects our world,” Vogel said. The fashion designer has always had a fondness for the ocean, growing up with a love for aquatic activities and an obvious attraction to the attire that goes with it. “I want my children to enjoy the ocean as much as I did growing up,” said Vogel. “So I’m doing my part to drive awareness with my ‘Blu’ collection.”

Vogel proclaimed the night a success. Mercedes Benz made the night memorable with a cocktail hour, small plates and DJ Ideal spinning tunes. All in all, the ocean supporter thought “Blu” was well received.

Right now, Vogel is back in her SoCal home working on the launch of LUXE’s 2011 collection, which will hit stores in November.
