Now Boarding, All ‘Pawsengers’!

Flying the friendly skies just got LUX, for our four-legged companions! It seems a new airline catering to pet owners has just opened its doors, Pet Airways. This means head straight past cargo to First Class my furry friends!! wink

It’s a Florida based company started by two pet loving people who aimed to provide a way for pets to travel more in style with lots of love, care and safety! Currently, they offer flights to New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles for as low as $149 each way.

p>Currently, most pets traveling by air are transported in the cargo hold and are handled as baggage. The experience is frightening to the pets, and can cause severe emotional and physical harm, even death. This is not what most pet owners want to subject their pets to, but they have no other choice, until now,” said Dan Wiesel, President and CEO of Pet Airways in a statement.

Pet Airways is an exclusive pet ONLY airline, so owners are not allowed. Here is a glimpse at what happens. You get to the airport within 2 hours of the scheduled flight and drop your pet off at the ‘Pet Lounge,’ which would be the equivalent to the check in counter at most airports. To help those time sensitive schedules, you can check your pet into the PAWS Lodge up to 72 hours prior to the scheduled flight. The flight attendants then take it from here. About 2 hours before take-off the pet will be given a ‘potty break’ and then boarded into the retrofitted plane with proprietary restraint system made for pet carriers. A pet attendant will check each animal in 15-minute increments for the duration of the flight. Once the plane lands, attendants will provide another potty break and then your pet will be taken to the ‘Pet Lounge’ awaiting your arrival! It is that simple. Not to mention, you can monitor their journey with the online tracking system available through their website. Simply LUX-tastic!

You see, on Pet Airways, your pets aren’t packages, they’re ‘pawsengers.’ And every step of the journey, we’ll take care of them as if they were our own. Because that’s exactly the way we’d want Zoe (their dog) to be treated.—Dan Weisel and Alysa Binder, the founders of Pet Airways.

Travel just got easier thanks to Pet Airways and to all you LUX pet owners, Bon Voyage!
