Oceana Holds World Oceans Day Bash
A wide range of celebrity ocean advocates turned up on World Oceans Day to celebrate at the Inaugural Oceana Beach House in California’s Santa Monica. Presented by Nautica with support from exclusive media partner La Confidential Magazine, the marine-themed affair honored the work of Oceana, our planet’s largest global nonprofit organization committed to conserving our oceans and their beautiful sea creatures for future generations.
Event co-hosts Aimee Teegarden (starring in CW’s upcoming “Star-Crossed” and previously on NBC’s “Friday Night Lights”), Keegan Allen and Tyler Blackburn (from ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars”) marked the occasion in the company of Elsa Pataky, Sam Trammell (from HBO’s “True Blood”), Bethany Joy Lenz (from Showtime’s “Dexter” and formerly on CW’s”One Tree Hill”), Maya Gabeira (champion big wave surfer), Jesse Spencer (from NBC’s “Chicago Fire”) Nadine Velazquez, Emily Osment, Leonor Varela, Ryan Newman (from Nickelodeon’s “See Dad Run”) and many others.
“I grew up in California, so it means a huge deal to me to work with an organization that has action behind what they say. I’m hoping that tonight will inspire another wave of supporters to get involved with Oceana,” said Teegarden in a speech to the attendees.
Guests enjoyed a live music performance from recording artist Brett Dennen, while DJ Benjamin Walker mixed up some chill tracks. Partygoers indulged in tantalizing hors d'oeuvres at the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica and knocked back drinks supplied by Chandon, Lagunitas Brewing Company and Zico Pure Premium Coconut Water.
Through its science-based campaigns, Oceana attacks the myriad problems our oceans face, conserving this precious resource that provides food for one billion people and most of the oxygen we breathe. Since 2001, the nonprofit has been responsible for protecting more than 1.2 million square miles of ocean and countless sea turtles, sharks, dolphins and other sea life through its more than 600,000 international supporters.
A supporter of Oceana since 2008, the event’s partner Nautica is a top international lifestyle label that sells men’s, women’s and children’s apparel and accessories, plus a full home collection. Vended in more than 75 countries, the company has produced “refined casual classics” inspired by water since its inception in 1983.
