Open letter: A challenge to find your passion

It’s a new day in America, the energy is high, the human spirit is alive and full of hope, and most importantly, we’re banding together as a people united by this nation to celebrate and honor this new chapter we’re choosing to collectively write and step into together as one. We’re looking to one another to help navigate our way out of the storm. We’re done sitting in darkness and we’re finding our light in one another, this is a big day in America.

Personally I’ve never been more proud of people. I think it’s when you can say ok, I’m scared and I’m ready to try something new because what was was not working that you open the door to possibilities. What’s been happening in the world since September has affected everything on a global level. I cannot think of one industry that has not been affected to some degree. A ripple touches everything.

That said, the world we knew is gone. And that’s ok because that wasn’t a good world. It didn’t work, the systems, people, and, infrastructure were broken for the most part. We weren’t really living, we were existing. I talk to countless people every day and I always ask if they’re living their passion. Surprisingly, I get a response of either no, or I don’t know what my passion is.

We as a society have been trained to play it safe in life. We’re encouraged to earn a practical degree in college and take the safe job that’s secure after graduation, or take the route that is most serving of others while not fully benefiting ones own self or identity. Rarely do we have those moments in life where we are challenged to discover our passions and our authentic self.
By the landscape of our economy, rate of which jobs are being slashed and companies going out of business at alarming rates, I think it’s pretty safe to say, “safe” isn’t necessarily secure these days. So instead of doing what’s safe, why not team up with like-minded individuals and create synergy?

So with this, I want to impart upon you two things: one look around and find inspiration in the power of yourself and the people of this nation. What’s happening now is truly remarkable and historic. We as individuals have the ability to create our future. The more knowledge we have and the more we choose to participate in this world, the better our chances for getting out of this storm successfully. We can only do it as a nation, we cannot rely upon a select group of individuals to do it for us the job is simply too big. Two, America was founded upon innovation. I challenge you to find your passion. Each one of us was designed to do something unique. It’s our responsibly as people to discover that. I cannot think of a time better than now to discover our innate gifts if you haven’t already and share them. Our world needs the power of positive and progressive energy to propel us forward into the next chapter.
