Project Earth Day’s Hot Eco-Fashion Show

Last night’s 3rd annual Project Earth Day Fashion Show was definitely a no-miss event. Since it is one of the largest Earth Week happenings in New York City. The event is not only for the eco-savvy whom wish to rub elbows with fellow like-green-minded individuals…all are welcome to draw a bit of inspiration from sustainable high fashion. The video above depicts last year’s highlights, including a student competition.

Designer, stylist and co-producer Bahar Shahpar teams up with USGBC Emerging Green Builders NY to showcase the eco-conscious leaders of today and tomorrow in the fashion and building industries. This years theme ‘Through the Looking Glass: An Exploration of Scale and Proportion’ was chosen with the intention to challenge designers to step away from the “Bigger is Better” mentality of the past, and play with dimension to create in today’s sustainability-conscious environment.

Project Earth Day sums it up best: “In these modern times, individuals, companies, and even countries often consume more than they produce, using resources and creating waste in disproportionately large shares. This has seemed to work until now, but things are clearly not as they seem. The time has come for us to shift the weight and take a step back to consider a different reality – one where size is relative and small changes can have a huge impact. True sustainability is ultimately a carefully achieved balance between commerce, humanity, and the environment.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Fashion. Life. GREEN.
