Retrospective on Tim Burton Opens at the New York’s Museum of Modern Art

A glimpse behind the scenes of genius Tim Burton will be showcased at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

The exhibit will open publically this weekend and run through April 26, 2010.

Many will agree that Tim Burton has a distinct point-of-view in his work, including his ability to artistically interpret original movies and characters to become iconic representations.

This debut will even incorporate some of his never seen before sketches that weren’t originally created for public viewing. Expect to see both drawing and pictorial format as well as short films capturing his life’s work.

As you can see, this exhibit will definitely be entertaining at a minimum. Night tours will even be offered, adding to the effect.

Admission to the museum is $20.00 for adults, children (16 and under) are free and student admission is $12.00. The museum is open from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm daily. For those who won’t make it to the NYC area, you can purchase his new book that also captures 40-years of his work with over 430-pages cover-to-cover. To pre-order visit Steeles Publishing, though it’ll also be available at the MoMA bookstore in NYC as well as the Forbidden Planet in England. The standard version will retail for $70 and the deluxe limited-edition lithograph version will retail for $300. Might make for a great Christmas present for all those Tim Burton fans in your life!

So LUXies, what do you think of this new Tim Burton display? Is it something to put on your NYC hit list?
