Renowned microblogging platform Tumblr has plans to once again jet 20 fashion bloggers off to the Big Apple to check out all the hottest shows at New York Fashion Week, reported Fashionista.

Competition was tough. Contenders had to impress Tumblr with their blogs and make it through a round of interviews. When the scores were tallied, 16 new bloggers were selected and four were veterans from last year.

“The selection process for the bloggers this season was much more intensive; we put up an open call for submissions and recommendations, then spent a tremendous amount of time reviewing each and every single blog, evaluating each on original content, level of curation, unique voice, overall aesthetic, followers and traffic,” Katherine Barna, a spokeswoman from Tumblr, said, reported Fashionista.

The winners announced thus far include Tanesha Awasthi of Girl With Curves, Lawrence Schlossman of How To Talk To Girls At Parties, Jamie Beck of From Me To You, AnnaMarie Tendler of Anna Marie and Jessie Cohen of Closet Collage.

Barna noted the four repeat selections were chosen because they “produced incredible content and really capitalized on the opportunity to advance their professional careers.”

Tumblr has had a heavy hand in fashion for years, with about 180 of its major 1,000 blogs concentrating on the industry, according to a Mashable report. As saturated with images, Tumblr provides an easy way to share fashion picks and check out the hottest trends. Capitalizing on this background, the platform has brought on board Rich Tong to act as fashion director.
