World Health Organization Study States Women’s Healthcare Top Priority

LUXies, the World Health Organization has just released a new report that has determined that women are often neglected with the proper healthcare during two critical times. Once during adolescence and the other later in adulthood, both of these periods are crucial to the long-term health of any woman.

“Improving women’s health matters to women, to their families, communities and societies at large,” the report concludes. “Improve women’s health, improve the world.”

These findings demonstrate the vigilance for each of us, as women, to ensure we’re maintaining proper checkups and other preventative care. The future of our community demands that we care for ourselves as a way to ensure we’re here to continue to care for others. Women are the backbone of our society. Though, there are still many areas we fight for equality, this is one area that where can stand up for ourselves.

“If women are denied a chance to develop their full human potential, including their potential to lead healthier and at least somewhat happier lives, is society as a whole really healthy?” asked Dr. Margaret Chan, director-general of WHO. “What does this say about the state of social progress in the 21st century?

Much of these stats are more evident in developing countries, but there’s still a focus on developing healthy habits in more wealthy countries as well. Maintaining a healthy stance on your ways of living includes: reducing your alcohol intake, tobacco intake and increasing your daily activity levels.

The report did signify women live longer, but not necessarily with health. Living longer doesn’t necessarily equate to a good quality of life. This new report is asking for women’s healthcare to become a priority, especially at a young age in order to create a good cycle of health that will continue into future years.

So to all those powerful, strong women of LUX Nation, what type of commitment are you willing to make towards your health today? What is one health habit that you can implement to guarantee yourself a healthy future?
