WWD Brings Magic to Las Vegas

February has been a busy month for fashion. As if we were not still swooning over Fashion Weeks in New York, London and Milan, the WWD Magic Market Show in Las Vegas, Nev. gave us another reason to be excited about all things fashion related.

The show, which is considered to be one of the most comprehensive collections of apparel, accessories and shoes, showcases clothing for women, young adults and children. WWD Magic also gives show goers sneak peek previews of upcoming collections as well as networking events, fashion seminars, emerging designer introductions and collection unveilings. Two of this year’s most talked about collection debuts were Catherine by Catherine Malandrino and BCBGeneration’s new intimates collection.

The new 150-piece diffusion line, Catherine by Catherine Malandrino is the first major move since Elie Tahari and Arthur S. Levine invested in the brand 18 months ago. Together, the three designers worked together to create a line that caters to young working professionals who strive for success and exude sophistication, yet may not be able to afford high-end price tags. This new addition to the Catherine Malandrino brand is the first step in an effort to pursue global expansion that will eventually include shoes, accessories and fragrance.

Another buzz-worthy debut was the BCBGeneration Intimates collection, to hit stores in fall 2013. Showcased alongside the ready-to-wear line, the BCBGeneration Intimates include underwear and loungewear. The new line showed a wide spectrum of colors and prints collection as well as super lightweight pieces with sporty lace, all over jacquards and fashion driven color blocking.

Though a big part of the show is learning about new designers and lines to look out for and seeing what brands are coming out with for upcoming seasons, the show was also huge for anyone wanting to learn about the business of fashion. WWD Magic provided a wealth of opportunities for show goers to learn about marketing, sourcing, merchandising, etc. from top level executives in the seminars offered.

From seminars to new lines, WWD Magic had it all. And if the show was any indication of what’s in store for the future —literally — fall 2013 is going to be a great time for fashion.
