For brides getting ready to walk down the aisle, celebrity designer Zac Posen is providing one more option to do so in style – and in price range. In an exclusive partnership with David’s Bridal, Posen will be producing a wedding gown and social occasion dress collection named Truly Zac Posen. The collection will launch in 50 of David’s Bridal 307 stores, plus on the Web, come February, reported WWD.

“We brainstormed for several months because we had a very successful launch with Vera [Wang’s White by Vera Wang label]. As always, we were looking for what’s next. We were talking about dramatic red-carpet movie-star kind of looks, and Zac came to mind,” Catalina Maddox, executive vice president of merchandising at David’s Bridal, said to WWD.

The six wedding dresses will be sold in ivory, with accents of portobello, while the five limited-edition social occasion dresses will be sold in neutral and seasonal tones. Wedding gowns will be offered from $850 to $1,350 and social occasion dresses will be available from $195 to $225, making the collection well within the range of affordability. Both lines will be increased to 10 designs later down the road. The dresses are available in sizes 0 to 14, with 16 to 26 sold by special order. The retailer hopes to have 100 stores offering the line by the end of this year.

“In designing Truly Zac Posen, I drew on many years of making one-of-a-kind bridal gowns that are incredibly special,” Posen said. “I’m thrilled to be working with David’s Bridal to bring my technique and craft to a much wider audience. The collection draws on an aesthetic that’s glamorous, romantic, strong, with exquisite detailing from the inside out. When a woman wears a Zac Posen gown, I want her to feel embraced and empowered, joyous and confident.”
As a designer for David’s Bridal, Posen will join the like of Vera Wang and Oleg Cassini, whose collections the retail chain is currently offering. Having dabbled in women’s ready-to-wear, furs, handbags, accessories and eyewear, the famed designer has produced a variety of collections under his business House of Z, including the Zac Posen, Zac Zac Posen and Z Spoke Zac Posen labels.
