Fashion’s Night Out reveals the who’s who of fashion

UPDATE: It was announced today that models such as Alessandra Ambrosio, Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell, Lilly Donaldson, Karolina Kurkova, Adriana Lima, Angela Lindvall, Sasha Pivovarova and Cocha Rocha will appear at Fashion’s Night Out: “The Show” on September 7.

In preparation for Fashion’s Night Out on September 10, on August 16 FashionNightOut.com released a list of participating celebrities, retailers, brands that will be part of the 2nd annual fashion event.

Celebrities include Victoria Beckham, Nicole Richie, Sean “P Diddy” Combs, Coco Rocha and world-famous models Jessica Stam, Heidi Klum and Lara Stone. The roster of designers is equally impressive with names such as Marc Jacobs, Jason Wu and Thakoon popping out of the never-ending laundry list.

Due to the success of last year’s Fashion’s Night Out, retailers are showing their support for the event by hosting exclusive events in cities all around the U.S. Now every fashion-loving gal can feel connected to the celebration, even if she doesn’t have a ticket to the NYC soiree.

“The enthusiasm and creativity with which retailers and designers have approached this year’s celebration in New York City, the country, and around the world, are truly inspiring,” said Vogue‘s editor in chief, Anna Wintour, in a statement. “I am delighted that shoppers will have such an extraordinary night to enjoy fashion.”

CBS is largely involved this year, making the exclusive event much more accessible to the public. Three days prior, on September 7, Fashion’s Night Out will hold “The Show”, the largest public fashion show in NYC’s history. Produced by Vogue and SPEC entertainment, the runway presentation will take place at Lincoln Center (home of fashion week) and onlookers will revel at fall 2010 collections worn by over 150 of the top models in the world, such as Alessandra Ambrosio, Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova, Adriana Lima, and Cocha Rocha. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to a charity close to CFDA’s heart, the New York City AIDS Fund. Tickets go on sale on August 19 but anyone that can’t make it to the Big Apple can catch the live podcast on cbs.com.

The actual event on September 10 will be broadcast in a CBS special. This week, the show let the public know that “How I Met You Mother” star Neil Patrick Harris will be hosting the special. On August 24, they announced that the one-hour segment will feature Vogue’s editor-at-large AndrĂ© Leon Talley and influential fashion blogger and model Hanneli Mustaparta. CBS.com will be live streaming the whole show at Lincoln Center. Style Rookie’s Tavi Gevinson, the 14-year-old fashion sensation, will add her opinions to the web. New York Magazine reported that Tavi will be attending Fashion’s Night Out with her father, tweeting from FNO and posting to Barney’s blog, BSides.

A post-show wrap up will also air on September 14, which will give the audience a behind-the-scenes look at the planning and execution of the night.

Anyone interested can head to FashionsNightOut.com to find links to participant cities, such as Miami and Chicago, for local events and retail specials in honor of 2010 FNO. Many of the retailers will be carrying FNO’s limited edition merchandise, such as tanks, t-shirts and hoodies with the FNO logo. Best part? Forty percent of the proceeds go to New York City AIDS Fund.
