LUX Look: Fur

During the 2010 Fall/Winter presentations, the runway is screaming “lions, and tigers and bears oh my!” as fur coats and jackets take over. Fur continues strong from last season with some new exciting twists and some unexpected appearances.

Designers showed fur jackets, coats and vests in various lengths including cropped, below-the-knee, mid-thigh and at the waistline. Fur was used in all-over pieces as well as trims and accents for sleeves, collars and hoods. Chanel, Michael Kors and Zac Posen stepped outside the box creating fur suits, skirts and shoes. Chanel went over-the-top in fur creating a rather stylish arctic suit look. In keeping it chic, Karl Lagerfeld also mixed classic tweed with fur accents and styled with tonal knee-high fur boots that only Chanel can make look classy. Michael Kors went for grey and brown fur to add to his Americana-inspired collection. Kors matched knee-length fur skirts with khaki color tops and lustrous leather belts. Zac Posen got fancy on his feet with red and black fur-covered pumps and platforms to match the coats.

Fur was most popular in grey and brown tones, carrying forth a more play-down feel than last year’s rocker edge. White fur was also apparent and several designers chose pop colors of purples and reds to spice things up. Fall/Winter collections also showed zebra and leopard animal prints, giving us that 90’s glam throwback feel that makes us tingle.
