Convicted Killer Gets Death Penalty
A tragic situation in which one man’s lack of respect for human life has resulted in the loss of his own. Last Friday Skylar Deleon was sentenced to death by a judge in Orange County as a result of taking the lives of an Arizona couple. The man’s cruel act stemmed from the desire to steal the couples assets, feigning interest in their yacht and using his own children to gain their trust. It is difficult to imagine the greed and inhumanity that would lead to such acts of violence.
“Defense attorney Gary Pohlson had asked jurors to spare his client’s life, arguing that Deleon was abused by a drug-dealing father who left him predisposed to violence. He declined to comment after the sentencing. Deleon’s case will automatically go to an appeal.”
