Fashion is Shifting: Vogue Italia Announces New Dedicated ‘Curvy’ Section

Talk about a fashion transformation, Vogue Italia has just launched a new focus to their website that’s aimed at the sexy curves of the average woman called ‘Vogue Curvy.’

Expect this new area to focus on inspiring women of many body styles, but especially what most in the fashion industry would call ‘plus-size’ models. It’s an effort to help re-define beauty and broaden the scope of our fashion-perfect lens.

According to a note from Vogue Italia editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani, the new Curvy site is “a channel where you may find out that a size 16 makes you happier than a size 0, and where having curves equals to being sexy and self-confident,” she wrote. Successful models and actresses who have embraced their curves and become style-icons tell you how to look stylish despite your size, without renouncing the latest trends.”

In interviews with some of the hottest plus-size models, we gain an insider perspective that’s very much needed to break the traditional stereotypes of this industry. They’ve even incorporated three of the most popular bloggers to help feed content to this new area and if this topic interests you, they’re still taking applications!

Now this isn’t the first time Vogue Italia has created such a specialized focus. In July 2008, they launched Vogue Black featuring various black models and it has been quite successful.
