Flavor Tripping Parties—Is That Legal?

The newest underground scene is a party that involves intoxicating the tastebuds by eating a fruit, indulging the palate and tricking the brain. The miracle fruit, as it is known, is a small red berry native to West Africa that once eaten, rewires the tastebuds to perceive sour flavors as sweet. Imagine lemons and grapefruit tasting like pixie sticks, cheese tasting like frosting, and beer going down like a chocolate milkshake! While “under the influence,” the gastronomist has no desire for actual sugar or dessert because upon consumption, the food will be perceived as too sweet. ( Did we finally find a solution to that dreaded sweet-tooth?:)

The party concept was developed by Franz Aliquo, a New York lawyer, who originally stumbled upon the berry while searching for foods to make for a diabetic friend. Mr.Aliquo’s inspiration for Flavor Tripping was simply to “turn on people’s tastebuds.” His desire to share his discovery has exploded into a popular, multi-city gathering full of food, beer, music, and interesting taste-testers looking to expand their palates. Anyone that likes to eat, drink, listen to good music, and meet interesting people can find out more about parties in their neighborhood by vising the Flavor Tripping website.
