We’ve all seen ‘coffee table’ books about wine, but who’d have thought about creating one that includes the actual exclusive vintages which it describes!?!

Well LUXies, that’s exactly what LUX-publisher Kraken Opus has created with ‘The Wine Opus’! This limited edition hardcover will offer detailed script on the TOP wineries from around the globe AND will be accompanied by a 6-bottle case of wine from each one!! Making this ‘investment’ more of a personal wine collection in the making—offering you a chance to own some of the most exclusive wines in the world!! And that’s not all; in addition ‘this wine bible’ will come with an exclusive ‘invitation’ to some of the featured vineyards to create a once in a lifetime experience!

A spokeswoman for Kraken Opus told decanter.com that a ‘panel of experts’ will draw up a shortlist of about 300 producers, and then a second panel, comprising 40 sommeliers, will make the final selection, based on a ‘number of criteria’ at a ‘wine UN meeting’ in London in 2010…The list of sommeliers and wine experts has not been revealed, but the spokeswomen said that ‘every wine-producing country’ will be represented in the evaluation.

Now, this LUX-ury edition doesn’t come without its weight in value and actual pounds. This will be quite an investment for all of you self-identified Wine-enthusiasts. It will be offered at $1 Million US (£600,000) and at 850-pages, it’s estimated to weigh about 66 lbs (30kg)!! You better have one sturdy table to house this one-of-a kind book!! Or better yet, I’m thinking an ancient marble podium would be perfect to showcase this asset!

There will only be 100 of these works available. And to date, 25 of these über-LUX vintages have been pre-ordered for its Spring 2010 debut!
