LUX Style: what to wear to work

Just because you’re going to work doesn’t mean you can’t be stylish this Fall. Ditch the boring pantsuit and trade up for a chic ensemble that will have you looking good and feeling good. Imagine a modern dress with a classy styling aesthetic or play with dimensions by layering textures and prints. Either way, step it up this season with new ideas for what to wear to work!

Red complements red. Banana Republic demonstrates how to wear monochrome red in the chicest workwear way possible. Start with Kimberly Ovitz’s sleeveless Nola dress with a crewneck collar and asymmetrical hemline. Define the waistline with the sleek snake-embossed Carolyn belt from Club Monaco and add a little casual ruggedness with Kors Michael Kors’ Alia boots complete with a sturdy heel comfortable enough to run around all day in. Top off the dress with a rich crimson coat from Diane Von Furstenberg and Juliet & Company’s Tordu knotted chain necklace. Toss meeting notes and a file or two in Theysken’s Theory’s Wilona Abuk bag with lux croc-embossed suede.

You can never go wrong with black and white. Inspired by the stylist turned designer, Rachel Zoe, layer Theory’s modest sleeveless sheath dress over a classic white turtleneck from Vince and semi-sheer tights. Add platform ankle booties with gold buttons from Rachel Zoe and a bangle bracelet from Tory Burch to pull the look together. Carry daily essentials in 3.1 Phillip Lim’s 31 hour bag.

Have a little fun at the office with playful layers. J. Crew illustrates how to wear textures and prints with sophistication. Create a foundation with crisp black-cropped trousers from Jil Sander Navy and Joe’s Jeans’ crisp chambray button-down. Pull on Rag & Bone/Jean’s Sara long-sleeve with variegated stripes over the button-down, letting the collar peek over the top. Finish with some color by throwing on See by Chloe’s pink bouclé knit jacket. Step into Nicholas’ amore cap toe pumps to keep the ensemble sharp. Keep your laptop safe and handy in Marc by Marc Jacobs green intergalocktic laptop bag.
