Top Pre-Fall 2013 Footwear Trends

Shoes. Can we ever get enough? Shoes can make or break an outfit and are often the starting point for a great ensemble. Most of us have way more than we “need” but that won’t stop us from coveting the upcoming trends from the Pre-Fall 2013 runways. Read on for some of our favorites and let the outfit planning begin….

White

Keep the memory of summer alive way beyond Labor Day with a pair of white kicks. White shoes have been spotted on many “It” girls in the past few months as well as at the recent fashion weeks. For Pre-Fall, options included all-over white, white platforms, color blocking and ankle-strap options, while the strong graphic pairing of white and black remained popular.

Crimson

Footwear in shades of crimson ranging from deep burgundy to fire engine red were popular on the Pre-Fall runways. If you tend to shy away from color in your wardrobe, a pop of red on your feet will go a long way to adding interest to many outfits. Crimson shades were shown in everything from flats to single sole pumps to boots and were featured in leather, suede, satin and velvet.

Metallics

Long gone is the notion that metallics are only for evening. Designers offered footwear in shades of yellow gold, rose gold, gunmetal, silver and options mixed with black. Bold platforms featuring gold plates were eye-catching, as were rose gold options. What we love the most are double duty shoes that take us from day to evening!

Fetish

Perhaps it’s the popularity of 50 Shades of Grey that’s influencing the bondage theme on the runways. From the harness-inspired strap details on Summer 2013’s runways to the variety of slick, translucent materials mimicking the look and feel of rubber at the Fall 2013 shows in London, designers seem keen to let their fetishes come out and play. Pre-Fall 2013 featured a slew of sexy footwear featuring front lacing wrapped multiple times around the ankle, leather straps with buckle closures to give a hard edge, as well as spike details. Check out some of the head-turning options coming your way.

Loafers

Loafers have been making a comeback since Fall 2012 and will be in full swing come Pre-Fall 2013. Designers showed a variety of options sure to please women across the style spectrum. Shapes included mannish and chunky to sleek and sophisticated. Elongated tongues looked especially menswear-inspired while high-rise wedges and platform lug soles will appeal to those looking to add a retro finish to their look. Check out some of our favorite options.

To the Knee

Knee-grazing boots for Pre-Fall were shown in a variety of styles sure to expand your boot wardrobe. Fresh takes on the look included color blocking, angled collars, ruffled collars, Mod styles featuring white leather and cut outs, and slits that created a gladiator effect.

Pumps

It’s hard to go wrong with a classic pump. The single sole pump never went out of style but has been experiencing a sort of “comeback” as women tire of the platform look. After all, who doesn’t want the leg lengthening effect of a pointy, low-vamp pump? These were abundant on the runways while printed and high-vamp options offered a fresh take on the classic.
