Spring 2012 Trends: Ombre

Creating quite the color stir this season, ombre has made its way onto everything from long locks of hair to the most stylish apparel. The unique fading technique of dark to light color brings a fresh infusion of vibrancy to blouses, skirts and dresses in the most unexpected way. From monochrome to multicolor, or in unison with prints, ombre is a modern yet romantic trend that needs to be in your Spring wardrobe!

Bec & Bridge’s skinny jeans combine two of the season’s most playful trends: ombre and pastels. The fitted pant features a degradation of lilac that starts at the hemline and fades to white at the waistline. Create an easy-going look by complementing the shade with a grey pocket tee or a sheer crewneck sweater. Pair with off-white booties to complete the vibe.

Starting with blue and fading into minty green, Siwy’s cutoff has cool written all over it. Pair the shorts with a fun graphic tee and rugged boots for a day at a music festival. Take them on an unpredictable route with a sharp white blazer and layered over black leggings for an edgy, dressy look.

Fusing prints and ombre could only come from Alexander Wang and his downtown sensibility. The short-sleeve blouse entertains a botanical pattern that blends shades of black and blue. With the busy elements of the top, keep things simple with cropped jeans and pumps or sleek with leather pants. Play out the black and blue with a matching colorblock sandal.

Bleeding blue, Young Fabulous and Broke’s jersey swing dress is Spring-ready. The silhouette is completed with a raw-edge cowl neck, short dolman sleeves and a sporty drawstring waist. Punch it up with an eye-popping neon choker necklace and balance with natural colored wedges.

Giving a twist to sharp pencil skirts, an indigo ombre makes Rachel Roy’s style novel. The skirt features a topstitched dart at the front and a knee-length hemline. Combine with a white button-down for a day of office meetings or go edgy with a mesh top for a night out.

Light, airy and dip-dyed in lilac, Bec & Bridge’s sweater embodies Spring. The loose knit style is set with a scoop neckline and raglan sleeves. For a confident, upbeat attitude, style with monochrome floral trousers or aqua skinny jeans. To let the effect stand out, go easy with a white skirt.
