Style.com breaks designer items before they hit stores

Early bird shoppers take note. Starting Nov. 2, Style.com will feature Spring 2012 runway looks from select designers weeks before they are available in stores, reported WWD.

Each day for six consecutive days, the website will highlight one designer from a group that includes Rag & Bone, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Alexander Wang. Proenza Schouler will push patterned tees inspired by its runway ensembles, Eddie Borgo will vend gunmetal-garnet pavé pyramid necklaces and Jason Wu will offer python handbags.

“We wanted to launch this with the coolest young designers,” Style.com Editor-in-Chief Dirk Standen said to WWD. “They were all thinking about delivering things instantly themselves, so it’s a good fit from that standpoint.”

Style.com is partnering with high-end e-commerce platform Edition01 to present the collections. Watch for exclusive lines from designers such as Donna Karan, Thakoon Panichgul, Yigal Azrouël, Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang, Narciso Rodriguez, Doo-Ri Chung and Prabal Gurung to be exhibited.

The special offerings will be available two days after the magazine’s November release.
“We’ve always provided immediate access to fashion at Style.com, but now we’re looking to fulfill what they want through e-commerce,” Standen said.
