Jay-Z Partnering With Barneys For The Holidays
A new collaboration was just revealed this week and it’s a bit of an unexpected pairing. This week we learned that Jay-Z will be partnering with department store Barneys New York for a holiday promotion they’ve titled “A New York Holiday”. The music mogul will be collaborating with top designers for limited edition holiday products.
The collection was formerly named as BNY SCC Gallery, a nod to Jay-Z’s recent jump into the contemporary art market. The collection will be a reflection of the state that mogul holds dear to his heart. WWD reported that Jay-Z said, “With this project, Barneys New York and I were able to take the slickness, energy and innovation of New York City and translate that into quality, timeless pieces.”
Lanvin, Balenciaga, Balmain, Proenza Schouler, Rick Owens and Moncler are among the designers who worked with Jay-Z. Each designer is releasing a holiday product. For example, Balmain has designed a black square-print scarf and Rick Owens has produced a hoodie.
Though some products are a bit pricey, such as the Shawn Carter by Hublot 45 mm watch which retails for $33,900, there is still a good mix of mid-priced products.
The designs will be available November 20 through January 3. The following Barneys locations will be selling the collection: New York, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago.
