Madoff’s Assets Being Seized
Federal agents are going after Bernard Madoff’s assets, swooping up the insides of his West Palm Beach home and the yacht kept in Ft. Lauderdale. New York, Grand Cayman Island, and France are among the other locations with goods to be seized.
These actions are happening in conjunction with the news that many of Madoff’s business associates were aware of his scams for Fairfield, Connecticut’s retirement plan. These “funders” turned a cheek at the suspicious business practices in exchange for large paychecks.
This gets me thinking about the days that a smile and a handshake were enough for a deal to be trusted. Let’s hope that with all the chaos that has come forward the past few years in regards to shady business that we are turning a corner and can look forward to a bright future filled with ethical business practices and a society that operates with people’s best interest in mind.
